For over 130 years, the Wells Foundation (and its precursor programs at St. Mark’s Cathedral) has supported an outreach mission to the local community.  Initially serving women immigrants and disadvantaged families through various social programs. More recently Wells has supported programs focused on providing food for the hungry and support for social service organizations, in particular programs offered at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral.

Now, as we move into the 21 Century, the Wells Board of Directors has launched a program of grants that support new projects or expand existing projects that have demonstrated success in solving a social challenge by addressing the underlying causes of a problem rather just the symptoms.

Wells Foundation provides financial support to entrepreneurial organizations that attempt social innovations that are measurable, cost-effective solutions to unmet needs in our community.

As we redefine the core mission statement in this way, we are developing stronger connections to contemporary challenges and to emerging resources.
